Welcome, family and friends—from near and far—to beautiful Oaxaca!
Oaxaca City (also known as Oaxaca de Juárez) is in so many ways, one of México’s true gems. With its colorful streets, rich traditions, electric art scene, and extraordinary cuisine (& mezcal!), this city is unlike anywhere else in the world.
Just as we fell in love with each other, we fell in love with Oaxaca immediately.
We chose this destination with great care. We truly believe Oaxaca holds a little magic for each and every one of our guests. We want you to experience this place as fully as our wedding celebration, so we’ve created this website to help you plan your trip and feel at home here.
If you’ve visited Oaxaca before, feel free to jump ahead to hotel details, the wedding schedule, and dress code. And whether this is your first time here or your fiftieth, we are so thrilled and grateful to begin this next chapter of our lives surrounded by you.
For those coming from abroad, especially if it’s your first time in México, here is a quick overview of what makes Oaxaca so special—and why we can’t wait to share it with you:
A UNESCO World Heritage City
Oaxaca City is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its stunning colonial architecture, vibrant Indigenous traditions, and deep cultural history.
Walkable City
One of our favorite features of Oaxaca City is how incredibly walkable it is for all of our guests. No rental car needed. The only taxi or Didi (Oaxaca’s version of Uber) that you’ll need is to and from the airport. The historic center is compact and easy to navigate. The best restaurants, museums, and major sights are all within a 10–15 minute walk of each other. Oaxaca is so wonderfully connected that you shouldn’t be surprised if you bump into fellow wedding guests along the way.
A True Food Capital
Oaxaca is considered one of the great culinary capitals of the world. Its cuisine is entirely unique to all of México. We recommend to leave room in your itinerary and your stomachs for a Oaxacan food adventure! Yes, you’ll find tacos, but don’t miss out on the magic of Oaxacan food including a multitude of award-winning restaurants and Michelin-recognized spots like Los Danzantes and Levadura de Olla.
Mole, Mezcal & Cultural Magic
Oaxaca is the birthplace of mole (famous Mexican chocolate dishes – truly a must-try) and mezcal. It’s also one of the most important regions for Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), a celebration so iconic it inspired films like Coco.
Safe, Welcoming & Family-Oriented
Oaxaca is consistently ranked as one of the safest cities in México, especially for families. It’s warm, welcoming, and community-centered —something we felt immediately when we first visited.
